Bitstop Fees: What You Pay at a Bitstop Bitcoin ATM
At most Bitstop ATMs, the fee is 15% to 25% of your purchase. In states that regulate Bitcoin ATM fees, Bitstop charges a set rate at the live market price: 13% in California, 15% in Iowa, Maryland and Oklahoma, and 18% in Georgia, Illinois, Kansas and Nebraska (15% for stablecoins in Illinois and Nebraska). Stablecoins cost the least: a 12% fee in most states.
In other states, the exchange rate can be up to 4% above the live market price (2% for stablecoins). Every Bitstop ATM shows the fee and the rate on screen before you insert cash (Bitstop, October 2026).

Rates as of October 2026, for ATMs Bitstop owns and operates. Fees are a percentage of the cash you insert. In California, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Nebraska and Oklahoma, the exchange rate is the live market price. Elsewhere, it can be up to 4% above it (2% for stablecoins). Wisconsin is the only state with a flat fee.
How coupons work: a Bitstop coupon takes a percentage off the fee. It doesn't change the exchange rate or a flat fee. The coupon columns show a 20% coupon, the largest Bitstop regularly offers. Bitstop coupons: a 10% coupon on the machine, new-account welcome coupons of 10% to 20%, and app coupons two to three times a month. One coupon applies per transaction, and coupon availability varies by customer and visit.
What's in the price
You pay for a Bitstop purchase in two parts, and the screen shows both before you insert any cash:
- The fee. A percentage of your purchase, shown as its own line.
- The exchange rate. The price per coin. In California, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Nebraska and Oklahoma, it's the live market price. Elsewhere, it can be up to 4% above it (2% for stablecoins).
The screen also shows exactly how much crypto you'll get. Your price locks when your first bill goes in, and nothing is added afterward. Your receipt and your account history show what you paid.
Why fees differ from state to state
Several states set rules for Bitcoin ATM fees, and Bitstop's prices in those states follow them. Operating costs also differ by location: cash handling, store rent, licensing and compliance. That's why a Bitstop ATM in Oklahoma and one in Texas can show different prices for the same coin.
How to pay less
- Buy stablecoins. In most states, USDC and USDT carry a 12% fee, against 15% to 25% for other coins. Here's how to buy USDC with cash.
- Use the coupon on the machine. It takes 10% off your fee.
- Create a Bitstop account. New accounts get welcome coupons worth 10% to 20% off the fee.
- Watch the app. Bitstop sends app coupons two to three times a month.
- Buying $10,000 or more? The Private Client desk handles $10,000 to $100,000 purchases by wire, with same-day settlement.
Independently operated ATMs
Some Bitstop ATMs are run by independent operators who license Bitstop's software. At those machines, the operator sets the rate and fee. The operator is named on the help screen, your receipt, and the ATM map.
